Man accused of child abuse A Medford man was arrested Wednesday, accused of paying a child for sex. Bobby Lynn Southerland, 67, of 722 Broad Street, was arrested after detectives served a search warrant at his house at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday. He was lodged in the Jackson County jail on charges of first-degree sodomy, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, and prostitution. He's being held on $3,012,000 bail. Medford police alleged that Southerland sexually abused an 11-year-old boy over the summer whom he knew. He allegedly paid the child after the sexual contacts. Parents or guardians of children who have come in contact with Southerland are asked to call Medford police detective Tim Doney at 774-2237.
