After two crash-marred starts, Garen Linder took the early lead followed by the Mennes. On lap 16, Matt Menne charged to the front and held off Dan Menne and third-place finisher Randy Rodgers. Steve Dickenson of Corvallis won the first midget car race held in Southern Oregon in over 37 years, edging out Springfield’s Glenn Bittrolf. Tony Thomas won the 20-lap wingless sprint car race by a quarter of a lap over Vince McDonnall. Advertisement Fred Hay either held or challenged the lead for 18 of the 20 laps in the dwarf car race, but a spinout allowed Dan Van Acker to take the checkered flag. Tom Palazolo placed second and Jerry Appland finished third.
