White City will break ground for center WHITE CITY -- Ground will be broken for an expanded Rogue Family Center, the first phase in the development of a town center for Jackson County's largest unincorporated community. The ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m. Dec. 6 at Avenue C and 24th Street. Attendees are asked to take Highway 62 north to Antelope Road, right (east) on Antelope Road to 24th Street, left (north) on 24th Street one block to Avenue C. U.S. Sen. Gordon Smith, R-Ore., will be among the officials scheduled to be present. The one-stop center offers health and social services for residents of White City and the Upper Rogue. The new center will be 23,950 square feet, more than three times the 7,000 square feet available at 2400 Antelope Road. Vitus Construction of Medford was awarded a $2.5 million contract last week to build it. The center will house public and mental health services, employment, alcohol and drug treatment programs, and meeting space for community events. Additional agencies will include Head Start and the White City Urban Renewal Agency.
