Missing Medford man found dead in the Applegate By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Jun 02, 2022 12:38 PM A A Zed Edison [SCSO photo] A Medford man who disappeared while going gold panning near Applegate Lake Monday was found dead at the bottom of a 300-foot embankment Wednesday. Zed Edison IlI, 81, had last been seen Monday afternoon about 2:30 p.m. on Forest Service Road 1050 in Siskiyou County, just south of Applegate Lake. Teams from Siskiyou County Search and Rescue, Jackson County Search and Rescue, and the California Highway Patrol, along with friends and family of the missing man, searched throughout the area. At 3 p.m. Wednesday, Edison’s ATV was located at the bottom of a 300-foot drop, and the SAR team quickly descended the cliff in an effort to rescue him, but Edison had succumbed to his injuries, according to the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office.
