Burglar gets 4 years for Talent assault Phillip Leo Muradanes Tuesday Jan 3, 2017 at 5:09 PM Jan 3, 2017 at 5:09 PM Nick Morgan Mail Tribune @mtcrimebeat A Northern California man was sentenced to prison after admitting he attempted to seriously injure a woman after she caught him stealing at her Talent home where he was a guest. Phillip Leo Muradanes, 41, of Yreka, was sentenced to four years in prison Tuesday in Jackson County Circuit Court after admitting to a felony attempted-assault charge as well as misdemeanor reckless endangering for firing a weapon outside the Talent residence at 116 Third St. On Feb. 23, Muradanes and his brother, Jeremy Benjamin Bush, were reportedly guests at the home of Joseph James Murdock and Melissa Louise Manring to conduct a "transaction law wouldn't have approved of," according to Mark Hendershott, Muradanes' court-appointed lawyer.   After Murdock and Manring confronted them about stealing at their home, Muradanes fired at least one shot from a gun at Manring outside the home and tried to run her over with his car, police said. Bush and Muradanes fled the area in separate vehicles. Police found a bullet lodged in a neighbor's fence, according to previous reports. Muradanes was captured in Northern California in April for violating his probation in California, according to archives. He's been lodged in the Jackson County Jail since June 1, jail records show. Bush, 34, of Daly City, California, remains on the lam on a warrant charging him with first-degree burglary and first-degree theft. Circuit Court Judge Lorenzo Mejia sentenced Muradanes to the recommended 48 months in the Oregon Department of Corrections after Muradanes pleaded guilty to felony counts of attempted first-degree assault and two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangering.  Muradanes previously had faced multiple felonies in the case, including attempted murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, first-degree theft, unlawful use of a weapon and felon in possession of a firearm, which were dropped as part of a plea agreement. A separate case charging Muradanes with supplying contraband and possessing heroin at the jail was dismissed. Muradanes was convicted of murder for fatally stabbing a man in downtown Orlando, Florida, in May 1992, according to court records and the Orlando Sentinel.
