I looked it up and saw that the one in Redding is closing too? What can you tell us about the one here in the mall? — Steve D., Medford While the troubled sporting goods retail chain has signaled it will close nearly a third of its stores, apparently the Sports Authority at Rogue Valley Mall is not among them. "We're not closing at this location," store manager Chris Van Horn told us. For weeks, Bloomberg News and retail industry Internet sites have suggested the Englewood, Colo.-based retailer is headed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. The Dallas Morning News reported this week Sports Authority is closing all 25 of its Texas stores, citing store employees. Before that, the Denver Post reported Sports Authority plans to close 140 of its 450 stores. The 10-year-old, 40,000-square-foot Sports Authority in Redding, Calif., a city where the company competes directly with Dick's Sporting Goods, is apparently on the closure list. The Redding store manager told The Record-Searchlight he wasn't sure when the store would close. The retailer Los Angeles-based private equity firm Leonard Green & Partners.
