Meadows Road crash kills pedestrian A pedestrian in the middle of this section of Meadows Road was struck by a Volkswagen Saturday. [Jackson County Sheriff's Office photo] Saturday Dec 30, 2017 at 12:53 PM Dec 30, 2017 at 1:05 PM Local report A woman standing in the middle of a rural White City road died before sunrise this morning after she was struck by a car, local police say. A driver headed southbound on Meadows Road in a 2005 Volkswagen Beetle struck the pedestrian at 5:40 a.m. Saturday near mile marker 3, according to Jackson County Sheriff's Office and Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon reports. The pedestrian, who had been standing inside the lane of travel, died at the scene from her injuries according to a Jackson County Sheriff's Office release. The pedestrian and driver have not yet been named, but deputies say the driver is cooperating with the investigation. A driver who'd been headed northbound also witnessed the incident. Deputies have so far ruled out driver intoxication or excessive speed as factors in the crash, according to the release. The crash occurred on an unlit roadway. The crash occurred roughly two hours before sunrise.
