The Medford bats also heated up, making things all the more a breeze during Glick's three-hitter in an 11-1 victory over the NBO Kings of Sacramento in six innings at Zunini Field. The Mustangs (14-7) next play two games today in the 16-team, four-day tournament — the first against the Oaks at 9 a.m. and second versus Damonte Ranch at 3 p.m. Against the NBO Kings, Medford rapped out 15 hits and collected five in a row during its six-run sixth inning. After the Mustangs' hitting spurt resulted in five runs and a 10-1 lead with the bases loaded with only one out, Taylor Raff singled up the middle to score Jared Evans for the run that gave Medford the victory by virtue of the 10-run mercy rule. Glick got into a bases-loaded jam in the first inning after he allowed his only walk of the contest and the Mustangs committed a pair of errors. Glick, however, escaped unharmed after getting an infield out to retire the side. Glick closed the game by retiring nine of the final 10 batters he faced. His lone blemish came in the top of the third when the Kings recorded two of their three hits. He allowed one earned run and struck out six. The Mustangs' David Crofton went 3-for-3 and drove in three runs, Jimmy Sporer went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs and Austin Zavala finished 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Raff was 2-for-4, drove in two and scored a run while Bryce Rogan went 2-for-3, scored and added an RBI. American Legion A CENTRAL POINT 7, ALPENROSE 4 — At Lake Oswego, Hayden Deuel's pinch-hit two-run single in the sixth inning helped the Central Point Comets pull away from the Alpenrose Dairy Red Sox in the 20th Annual Firecracker Tournament, a four-day, 16-team woodbat American Legion A event at Lakeridge High School. The Comets (14-5), who play Jesuit at 3:30 p.m. today, received a leadoff solo home run from Caine Smith in the bottom of the sixth to tie the score at 4-all and kickstart a four-run inning for Central Point. Central Point's Gunnar Asher picked up the save in the seventh, but not before Alpenrose nearly tied the game on a ball caught at the warning track for the final out with two men on base. Comets starting pitcher Brady Roland went six innings and allowed three earned runs on seven hits, two walks to go with seven strikeouts. Asher and Cavin Gillispie had back-to-back RBI doubles for the Comets in the first inning to grab a 2-0 advantage. NORTH MEDFORD 3-15, SHELDON 4-8 — At Eugene, North Medford scored nine first-inning runs and collected 17 hits in Game 2 to salvage a split in a doubleheader with host Sheldon. Tate Cowden had three doubles, drove in two runs and scored twice for the Mavericks (10-12). Honus Kindreich added a 3-for-4 effort with three RBIs and a run scored and Marcus Brammel went 3-for-4 — two were doubles — with three runs scored and an RBI. Sheldon turned a triple play in the fifth inning when the Mavericks' Preston Johnson hit the ball sharply to the first baseman who made the catch and tagged his base to get the first two outs. Then, Sheldon's first baseman threw to the second baseman who touched his base for the third out, catching the Mavericks' runner in limbo between the second and third bases. In the opener, Sheldon's Trevor Vill hit a bases-loaded, two-run single in the bottom of the seventh that lifted the Irish over the Mavericks. Vill's winner came after Brammel's sacrifice fly scored Berry Hunt to give the Mavericks a 3-2 lead in the top of the inning. Kasey Buchanan had two hits for the Mavericks. WCL Baseball MEDFORD ROGUES 17, NORTHWEST STAR ACADEMY 4 — Seven Medford pitchers combined on a no-hitter to snap a losing streak heading into today's West Coast League contest against the Bend Elks at Harry & David Field. The pitchers for the Rogues, however, did combine to walk 11 and hit five batters in a nonleague victory that saw Northwest Star Academy score four first-inning runs on five walks and two hit batters between starter Christian Morrison and reliever Dylan Ramage. Medford was able to pull even thanks in part to the error-prone ways of Northwest Star Academy, which committed eight overall. Catcher Joey Morgan was 2-for-5 with two runs and four RBIs, third baseman Andre Vigil 3-for-5 with one run and three RBIs and first baseman Levi Pereira scored twice and had three RBIs to pace the Rogues. Christian Cox scored four times in the leadoff spot. The Rogues, second in the WCL South standings, return to Harry & David Field at 1:05 p.m. today to face Bend.
