Police search for suspect in Eagle Point attempted abduction Wednesday May 3, 2017 at 10:47 AM May 3, 2017 at 6:04 PM Ryan Pfeil Mail Tribune @RyanPfeil Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a man who reportedly tried to abduct a 15-year-old girl Monday night as she walked home. The incident happened at 9:20 p.m. near the intersection of Ridgeview and Havenwood drives, according to Eagle Point police Chief Vern Thompson. The girl was reportedly walking home from a Campus Life youth event when a man driving a pickup truck pulled up and asked if she wanted a ride home. "When (she) ignored the male subject, he stopped the truck, got out and tried to grab hold of the victim," Thompson said. The girl broke free and ran home, and the man drove off. Police said the suspect is a white male, believed to be between 40 and 50 years old. He is between 6 feet and 6-feet-2 and weighs between 180 and 200 pounds with a medium build. At the time of the attempted abduction, he wore a ballcap with unidentifiable markings, a dark, long-sleeved shirt, and pants believed to be jeans. He also wore glasses, had scruffy facial hair and short hair under the cap. The man drove a single-cab truck believed to have been manufactured in the 2000s that is either dark blue or gray and reportedly has Arizona plates. Anyone with information is asked to call Eagle Point police at 541-826-9171, ext. 131. People near the area of the abduction, including Teakwood Drive, Crystal Drive, Candis Drive, Ridgeview Drive and Havenwood Drive, who have private security video feeds are asked to check them for footage captured between 9 and 9:30 p.m. Monday.   — Reach reporter Ryan Pfeil at 541-776-4468 or [email protected].
