Chico State topples Raiders By MICHELLE TRONTVET ASHLAND -- Kerri Cameron made her only field goal of the night count against second-ranked Southern Oregon University. Her putback just beat the final buzzer as Chico State downed the Raiders 53-51 in non-conference women's basketball Wednesday at McNeal Pavilion. "We forced an off-balanced shot," SOU coach Shirley Huyett said. "But when you don't block out on the weak side, they can put it back." Southern Oregon (12-2) had a 40-27 lead with 13 minutes left and a 46-35 advantage with 9:30 to go. The game was briefly tied at 48-all before Alisha Valvanis hit a 3-pointer to put Chico State back up, 51-48, with 30 seconds left. SOU's Lindsey Taylor went up for a 3-point attempt with seven seconds left and was fouled. She sank all three of her free throws to make it 51-51 before Cameron's shot sealed the Raiders' fate. "We just didn't shoot well," Huyett said. "We only shot 29 percent from the floor for the game. We had kind of an off, shooting night especially for the last half of the game." Denise Berry paced SOU with 15 points, 16 rebounds and seven blocked shots.
