SPORTS AJGA tourney at Centennial postponed to Wednesday because of smoke MailTribune.com Writer Posted Aug. 18, 2015 @ 1:38 pm Updated Aug 18, 2015 at 9:53 PM Posted Aug. 18, 2015 @ 1:38 pm Updated Aug 18, 2015 at 9:53 PM » Social News p bs:newslist StartDate="20121121" EndDate="p bs:datecalc Months="3"" DateSort="1" UseObjects="1" ObjectClass="81" Taxonomywords="2325,665" ExactTaxonomyMatch="1" Image="1" Count="4" --> The first round of the American Junior Golf Association tournament that was scheduled today at Centennial Golf Club was postponed to  Wednesday  because of unhealthy smoke levels. The Bishops Gate Golf Academy Junior attracts top juniors, ages 12 to 18 years old.   Vince Domenzain, general manager and director of golf at Centennial, said the air quality index this morning indicated hazardous conditions for those with allergies or breathing issues. He said the reading was "right on the edge. If it would have gone down, we would have let them go out."   The first of three rounds in the scheduled 54-hole tournament was to begin at  7:30 a.m.  Tournament officials considered an afternoon shotgun start before deciding the air hadn't sufficiently cleared.   The tournament is now expected to be 36 holes, keeping the original schedules for Wednesday  and  Thursday  so as not to interfere with travel plans of participants.  Of the 137 boys and girls registered, 115 are from outside Oregon.   — Tim Trower MailTribune.com Writer Posted Aug. 18, 2015 @ 1:38 pm Updated Aug 18, 2015 at 9:53 PM » Comment or view comments /* $( document ).ready(function() { // Jquery mobile is trying to style the button and leaving a blank gry button on top of a white button $("#viafouracoms .vf-comment-controls li.vf-right").html(' Submit '); });*/ » STAY INFORMED Email NewsLetter Sign Up Today Sign up for our newsletter and have the top headlines from your community delivered right to your inbox. calendar Connect with MailTribune.com Facebook Twitter RSS Back to top Reader Services Reader Services Home Subscriptions Subscriber controls Contact us Submissions Photos Events Letters to the editor Corrections Announcements Obituaries Story ideas Since you asked Alerts Email Alerts RSS Feeds Text Alerts Advertise Media Kit Home Products and services Ad rates Advertising contacts Propel Marketing Mail Tribune Daily Tidings The Nickel Shop Our Valley Blogs Mobile Site Stay Informed Email newsletter Sign Up Today Sign up for our newsletter and have the top headlines from your community delivered right to your inbox.
