Trio leads North to win Kelly Berry, Jamie Erickson and Holly Roberts posted two individual victories and took part in two relay victories apiece as North Medford splashed past South Medford Saturday in a Southern Oregon Conference swim meet at the Medford YMCA. North Medford�s girls triumphed, 96-64, while the Black Tornado dominated boys competition, 79-24. Berry won the 200 individual medley (2:41.63) and 100 breaststroke (1:24.45), Erickson won the 200 freestyle (2:17.83) and 500 freestyle (5:49.19) and Roberts was tops in the 50 freestyle (28.18) and 100 freestyle (1:01.45). Lynea Loeffler was the lone winner for South, taking the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.66. North won six of 11 events uncontested in the boys meet. ASHLAND GIRLS, KU BOYS WIN � At Ashland, Haley Scoles won two individual events and swam on two winning relay teams to pace the Ashland girls, who won nine of 11 events, in a SOC three-team meet at Southern Oregon University. Ashland scored 146 points to 100 for runner-up Klamath Union. Eagle Point totalled 63. Scoles won the 50 and 100 freestyle. Other Grizzly individual winners were Elisa Jessop (200 freestyle), Michelle Smith (100 butterfly), Alyssa Simonsen (500 freestyle) and Liz Alrick (100 breaststroke). Klamath�s Trish Havey accounted for wins in the only events the Grizzlies lost. In boys, Klamath Union posted 100 points, followed by Ashland (86) and Eagle Point (72). Ashland�s Jim Freeman (200 freestyle) and Aaron Nelson (100 backstroke) and Eagle Point�s Daylon Harrington registered wins. The Pelicans were sparked by Greg Farnsworth, who won two individual events and was on two winning relay teams. HENLEY SWEEPS MEET � At Ashland, Henley�s boys and girls will be able to carry their heads the highest among Skyline Conference peers after sweeping the titles for the All-Skyline Meet at the SOU pool. The Henley girls ran away with the team title by notching 114 points, compared to only 57 for second-place Mazama. Hidden Valley took third at 56, followed by North Valley (37), Phoenix (32) and Hosanna Christian (12). The Hornet boys posted similar dominance with 106 points, followed by North Valley (67), Phoenix (64), Hidden Valley (50) and Mazama (20). The second-year meet features only teams from the Skyline Conference, which typically compete in District 4 swimming. Hosanna Christian made its first appearance in the meet after petitioning the OSAA to be added to District 4 and petitioning the Skyline to be included as one of its teams. Junior Tony Byrd lowered his meet record in the 200 freestyle (2:04.69) and also finished second in the 100 butterfly to pace Phoenix in the boys competition. Junior Amanda Clouse was third in the 200 freestyle for the Pirates at 2:33.76, and joined Melissa Emerson, Danielle Tobin and Kimbra Chizek to take third in the 200 freestyle relay.
