Oregon State Police reported its pursuit began at 11:45 p.m. after an OSP trooper heard Central Point police were chasing a suspect nearby. When the trooper turned onto Victoria Way near Scenic Middle School, he saw the suspect vehicle, a white Toyota Corolla, traveling toward him "recklessly," OSP said. The vehicle passed the police car and blew through a stop sign before turning right onto Third Street and heading south, OSP said. Medford police were notified and set up spike strips at the intersection of Highway 99 and Beall Lane. The spike strips popped three of the vehicle's tires, according to Lt. Mike Budreau of Medford police. OSP said the Corolla slowed down near the intersection of Court and Ohio streets, where a trooper used the push bar on his patrol car to pin the Corolla against the curb. The driver, Chelsie Lynn Cooper, 28, of Medford, was arrested without incident on felony warrants, OSP said. She was arraigned in Jackson County Circuit Court Monday on charges of attempt to elude and reckless endangerment. OSP also alleged that "miscellaneous drug paraphernalia" was found in the vehicle.
