The defending NAIA Division II champions built a 67-52 lead with 6:42 remaining before the 24th-ranked and league-leading Raiders (8-7, 5-2 Cascade) uncorked an 18-4 run over the next four minutes to pull within 71-70. The Raiders, however, did not take another shot until after the Owls (13-6, 5-2 Cascade) went on a back-breaking, seven-point spurt containing a deep 3-pointer by Andre Lawrence, two Michael Nunes free throws as a result of a technical foul on the SOU bench, and a long jumper by Levell Hesia with 1:26 left. The outcome snapped a four-game SOU win streak and spoiled a brilliant 31-point, 11-rebound performance by junior All-American forward Shea Washington. The Raiders also got a 19-point, nine-board effort by junior post Jeff Williams. Nunes (27 points) and Hesia (24) carried OIT, which defeated its rival for the eighth consecutive time at Miles Court since 2000.
