Ashland ski team off to state meet Feb 25, 2005 12:00 AM A A The Ashland High nordic ski team sent six girls and three — boys to the state championships, today and Saturday at the Willamette — Pass Ski Area Nordic Center. — Representing the girls will be: Victoria Mayfield, Kara — Reinhardt, Sarah Spector, Natalie Jablonski, Maelia Dubois and Lucy Curran. — The boys are Shawn Reinhardt, Gabe Hoxmeier and Keith Smelcer. — The Ashland girls took third and the boys fourth in the — final Southern Oregon League meet of the season last week - a 4.8-kilometer — race. Kara Reinhardt paced the Grizzly girls with an eighth-place performance — in 22 minutes, 6 seconds, while Victoria Mayfield finished 12th in 22:48. — Mayfield was Ashland's top placer in the final league standings, ending — up 17th overall. — For the Grizz boys, Shawn Reinhardt took 18th in the final — race (19:41) to place 11th in the final team standings, tops for any Ashland — racer. Smelcer finished 31st (22:21) in the last race. — Boys basketball — At Phoenix, Drew Reed was a one-man wrecking crew for — the Mazama Vikings on Thursday night. The 6-foot-2 junior post scored — a game-high 25 points as the Vikings defeated Phoenix 56-51 in a Skyline — Conference playoff game. — Mazama will now meet Klamath Falls rival Henley on Saturday, — with the winner of that game traveling to Central for a first-round, Class — 3A state playoff contest. — Senior wing Justin Krafft scored 20 points to lead Phoenix. — Sophomore point guard Dustin Smith logged his best effort of the season — for the Pirates with 12 points, five assists and only one turnover. — Smith drilled three 3-point baskets in the fourth quarter — - and four in all - to keep Phoenix close.
