The closure will start at Buckhorn Springs Road and end at Hyatt Lake Road. Through traffic between Klamath Falls and Ashland will be detoured using Dead Indian Memorial Road and the Hyatt Lake Access Road, then will reconnect with Highway 66. Local traffic can use Highway 66 past the detour signs at Buckhorn Springs Road and the Hyatt Lake Access Road. Oregon Department of Transportation representatives met with area residents and businesses and decided not to try to keep a lane open during construction, said Gary Leaming, ODOT project information coordinator. "It would take a lot longer if you did it with traffic," said Leaming. He said the work will replace a six-foot culvert and repair what has been an ongoing slide problem near milepost 11. The estimated completion date is Sept. 1.
