At 1:08 p.m., a man wearing clear Uvex-style safety glasses and approaching on foot from the south entered the bank at 501 Crater Lake Ave., gave the bank teller a note and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. "The teller complied," said Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau. Budreau described the suspect as a "scruffy" white man in his 20s wearing a baggy, long-sleeved, white shirt, baggy blue jeans and white, high-top sneakers with oversized tongues out. He was described as having a "hunched" posture. Only bank staff were inside the building at the time of the robbery, and no weapon was brandished. "There were no other customers in the bank," Budreau said. Witnesses told police the suspect ran south on Crater Lake Avenue. No vehicle was seen. The bank was closed by 1:30 p.m. as police detectives investigated the building for fingerprints and other forensic evidence. Budreau declined to disclose the amount of money the suspect ran off with or the contents of the note because the case is still under investigation. "Based on the terminology (in the note), he was familiar with bank robberies and security measures," Budreau said. Budreau said the suspect doesn't appear to be linked to any other robberies, and that witnesses saw he was wearing a wedding ring. A K-9 unit arrived to help search for the suspect, but officers were unable to locate him. Budreau said that in busy urban environment, it can be difficult for police dogs to track a suspect. Budreau said that spreading the surveillance photos to news agencies and social media is the best way to apprehend the suspect. "The pictures are the best thing we have going for us," Budreau said.
