October 17. 2014 10:25AM Ashland's Iron Mike statue has its gun stolen The gun wielded by the Iron Mike statue on top of the Ashland Plaza fountain has been stolen, causing an estimated $6,500 worth of damage to the piece. Ashland police reported the missing statue component was discovered Thursday morning. Police responded and found the gun's front half had been snapped off. The statue's name plate near the fountain was also damaged, cracked down the middle. Police believe the theft and vandalism occurred sometime in the 48 hours before the initial report.
