Bambi Ruthanne (Baird) Powers Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Dec. 13, 2015 at 2:00 AM Posted Dec. 13, 2015 at 2:00 AM » Social News Ever In Our Hearts Bambi Powers lost her second battle with cancer and passed away peacefully November 25, 2015, at a family home. She was the second child to Norma Jean and Dan Baird born in Aurora, Colo. She had just celebrated “the big 60” in August and enjoyed it with family. Bambi graduated from Medford Senior High School in 1973 and attended college at Southern Oregon College (now known as “SOU”). She remained in Medford and met her husband of 26 years, David, at The Sandpiper. They were married February 25, 1989. Bambi spent almost 30 years working as a professional at The Job Council and she also participated in Soroptimist International for over 20 years. She worked at the Central Point Senior Center, making lots of seniors feel welcomed, while filling their tummies with peach pie. After retiring from The Job Council, she enjoyed being self-employed as a real estate agent. Bambi was an active participant in the Susan G. Komen “Walks For the Cure” for breast cancer research, and was supported by her group of friends, who self-identified as the “Honored-Ones”. They have all been together, through thick and thin, for roughly 40 years, having played softball together in the 1970s. They were known then as the “Medford Muggers.” Bambi is survived by her loving husband, David; her brother, Jeff Baird (Suzi); her two beautiful children, Holly (Travis) Kyle and Jack; and her granddaughter, Ember Kyle. She will be remembered by everyone who knew her, as a one-of-a-kind gem; a precious jewel in our lives. She was always kind, generous, loving, and could solve any problem, for anyone. Her inner light shined on those she touched, and her smile was infectious. Bambi, Mom, we are so thankful to have so many wonderful memories with you. We could never have asked for a better Mom, friend, or wife. We know you are in a better place and are watching over us. We love you so much, and you will always, always be with us and everyone you touched. For those who loved her as we do, a celebration of life will be held sometime in June 2016.
