Historian tells unusual tales of Crater Lake Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Jan. 23, 2015 at 10:55 AM Posted Jan. 23, 2015 at 10:55 AM » Social News A former Crater Lake National Park ranger and volunteer will share strange and unusual tales from the Crater Lake area in the next "Windows in Time" series talk at the Medford and Ashland libraries. The noon events are scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the Medford branch, 205 S. Central Ave., and Wednesday, Feb. 11, at the Ashland branch, 410 Siskiyou Blvd.  It will be hosted by Jackson County Library Services and the Southern Oregon Historical Society. Larry Smith, a Jacksonville historian who has worked as a ranger and winter volunteer coordinator at Crater Lake for 53 years, will give the talks. They are free and open to the public.
