Jared Evans went 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI, Josh Berman was 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI and Westfall 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI to lead a 13-hit attack by North Medford (8-4, 7-0 SWC). Westfall struck out 13, walked two and allowed three hits — two in the fifth inning — in a complete-game effort. The senior right-hander had a no-hitter going until the fifth, then got out of his only jam by striking out two South Eugene (6-5, 3-4) batters with runners at second and third. In the six-run outburst, Tate Cowden got things going with a single and eventually scored on a double by Westfall. After Jordan Ragan singled home Westfall to give him a 12-game hitting streak, Berman singled and Evans followed with a bunt single that was thrown away, allowing two runs to score. Greyson Wolff followed with a sacrifice fly RBI and, after a Dakota Adams walk, pinch-runner Dallas Devry stole second and scored on a single by Mason Barone. SHELDON 4, SOUTH MEDFORD 0 : Sheldon’s Wyatt Johnson and Justin Herbert combined on a three-hitter to lead the Irish at Harry & David Field. Johnson struck out two and walked one in five innings, while Herbert fanned one and didn’t allow a hit in two innings for Sheldon (8-4, 6-1 SWC). Herbert also went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Nick Henry secured the first hit for South Medford in the third inning, and the Panthers (2-10, 1-6) got fifth-inning singles by Will Cooney and Tyler Frost but couldn’t capitalize. Ryan Carle allowed three earned runs with two walks and two strikeouts in a complete-game outing for South. GLIDE 12, ROGUE RIVER 0, 5 inn. : At Glide, Rogue River wasn’t able to solve Glide’s three-man pitching staff, which combined for a perfect game in a nonconference contest. Glide’s Seth Himmelreich, Trevor Mehlhoff and Ryland Parazoo needed just five innings to achieve the feat after the Wildcats scored five runs in the fourth inning. Softball CRATER 11, SPRINGFIELD 0, 5 inn. : At Springfield, Crater’s Sydney Beck went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI and Mackenzie Ryerson plated two runs to lift the Comets in Midwestern League play. Brittany Hassel allowed two hits with three strikeouts and one walk in four innings to earn the win for Crater (4-10, 3-4 MWL). Track & Field GP, NORTH SPLIT : At Grants Pass, Tyren Wolfe broke the North Medford school record in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 11.01 seconds at Grant Pass High School. Grants Pass, however, got the 77-62 Southwest Conference victory. It was one of two triumphs for Wolfe, who also won the 200 in 22.62. The previous mark in the 100 was held by Matt Davis in 1995 and Almeir Barlow in 2007. Halley Folsom was a force for the North Medford girls, picking up four total victories as the Black Tornado topped Grants Pass, 81-63. Folsom won the 100 hurdles in 16.2 seconds and 300 hurdles in 48.11. She also recorded 5 feet, 4 inches to win the high jump and teamed with Jaci Brumble, Sydney Thomas and Savannah Greenwade to win the 4x400 relay in 4:23.39. Brumble chalked up three victories, the other two coming in the long jump (15-8) and triple jump (33-5). Greenwade registered to victories. Tarisa Olinski had three total wins for Grants Pass (100, 200 and 4x100 relay) and two from Lyric Biggins. Along with Wolfe, John Serna picked up a pair of wins for the Black Tornado boys. Serna got his triumphs in the 800 and 1,500, timing 2:04.77 and 4:11.45, respectively. Grants Pass received two wins each from Dustin Harrah (400, 4x400 relay), Matt Evens (300 hurdles, high jump) and Larry Cotton (long jump, triple jump). SOUTH, ROSEBURG SPLIT : At Roseburg, Kaizer Gillispie delivered three individual victories for the South Medford boys, which rolled past Roseburg, 89-56, at Roseburg High. Gillispie took the crown in the 100 with a time of 11.59 seconds. He clocked 22.94 in the 200 and 6 feet in the high jump. The Panthers’ Caleb Rayburn won the shot put (48-3) and discus (146-3). The Roseburg girls got three wins apiece from Corrine Walters and Carolyn Cuilty to push the Indians to a 108-36 victory.
