She was born November 2, 1921 to Randolph Rawson and Bessie Parsons in Tyrone, Okla. Mom suffered from hay fever and asthma all of her life. The Dust Bowl era in Oklahoma made it even worse, so in 1938, at the age of 16, her parents sent her to Central Point, Ore. to live with an aunt and uncle. She finished high school in Central Point, and there met and married our dad, Verle Edwards, who died in 1954. Eventually she met and married a wonderful man, Leland Giacomini, who preceded her in death in 2014. They were together for 29 years. Mom was known for her sewing talents from clothes to quilts and worked wonders with her embroidery machine. She is survived by her daughters Sandra Cox (John) of Eagle Point, Ore., Carolyn Mattz (Ken) of Gasquet, Calif., and Linda Merfeld (Gerry) of Medford, Ore.; her step-children, Gayle Clogston (Don) of Medford, Ore., Bob Giacomini (Carol) of Eureka, Calif., and Craig Giacomini of Santa Rosa, Calif; and her many, many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. Our family wants to thank the great people at Avamere at Waterford and Signature Hospice for the great care and love they gave our mom. You made it so much easier for us. Mom arranged to be interred alongside our dad and with our step-dad’s ashes in her coffin with her at the IOOF Cemetery in Central Point, Ore. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday October 26, 2015 at the IOOF Cemetery on Hamrick Road in Central Point. Pastor Lloyd of the Harvest Baptist Church will officiate. Flowers may be sent to Conger-Morris Funeral Directors of Central Point, or a donation may be made to Harvest Baptist Church in Medford, Ore.
