Now the Rogue Valley Symphony has come up with its answer to that super group. It's "The Three Sopranos": Nancy Caudill, Ellie Holt-Murray and Susan Olson-White, and they'll be performing live, right here in the Rogue Valley. The singers will present a concert featuring some of the more well-known arias of Strauss, Puccini, Giannini and Bernstein. Under the direction of Arthur Shaw, the concert also features Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony and Rossini's "William Tell Overture." Performances are 8 p.m. Friday, March 2, at the Southern Oregon University Music Recital Hall, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland; 8 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater, 23 S. Central, Medford; and 3 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at the Grants Pass Performing Arts Center, 830 N.E. Ninth St., Grants Pass. Mezzo-soprano Nancy Caudill will sing "What a Movie" from Leonard Bernstein's "Trouble in Tahiti." Critics have described Caudill's voice as "having a remarkably focused instrument, clean throughout the mezzo range." She has recently been a featured soloist at New York's Carnegie Hall in works by Vaughan Williams, Vivaldi, Mendelssohn, Bloch, Barber, and Dvorak. She has toured with The Orotorio Society of New York as a soloist in Europe as well as performed under the direction of Robert Shaw, Julius Rudel and Leonard Bernstein. Advertisement Soprano Ellie Holt Murray will perform "Musetta's Waltz" from Puccini's "La Bohème." She is known in the Northwest as an educator and performer. Her career includes solo performances with numerous symphony orchestras and opera companies. Locally she has performed with Rogue Music Theater, Rogue Opera, Britt, Southern Oregon Repertory Singers and the Oregon Cabaret Theatre. She has served as the musical vocal coach for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival for two seasons and is the co-founder of Sing It! Say It! Dance It!, an intensive two-week musical theater summer workshop for children. Soprano Susan Olson-White will sing Giannini's "Thou Blind Fool, Love" from "Taming of the Shrew." A student of Brian Swingle and Myra Brand, Olson studied last summer in Graz, Austria. A frequent performer with Rogue Opera, she has sung Gilda in "Rigoletto," Mimi in "La Bohème," Adina in "The Elixir of Love," Suzuki in "Madame Butterfly," Micaela in "Carmen," Cinderella in "La Cenerentola" and Natalie in "Merry Widow." The program also features the symphony performing two pieces on its own. Rossini's final opera, "Guillaume Tell," celebrates the Swiss movement for independence from the Austrians during the 1300s. Rossini was only 37 when he composed the opera and the "William Tell Overture" has become one of the best known pieces from the opera. A masterpiece of emotion and lyricism, Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony was begun in 1877 during a tumultuous time in the composer's life and was completed in a single year. There will be a pre-concert talk by Pat Daly one hour before each performance. Ticket prices range from $5 for students to $37 for premium seats.
