G.P. man dies in accident A Grants Pass man headed to Bend to call a square dance with his wife was killed in a weather-related car accident Saturday morning on Highway 62. William Henry Funk, 62, died after the accident, which occurred around 9:30 a.m. at milepost 52, close to the ranger station at Prospect. Funk's wife, Patricia Elaine Funk, 60, was driving their 1993 Ford sedan about 35 mph on the slushy road when her car lost control, spun around, went off the road and hit a tree, said Oregon State Police Sgt. Steven Cupernall. A Mercy Flight helicopter was dispatched, but William Funk died before the helicopter could reach the hospital. Patricia Funk was not injured. She and her husband had been wearing seat belts. Funeral arrangements for William Funk will be announced by Grants Pass Funeral Alternatives.
