Ex-teller sentenced for theft A 37-year-old woman has been sentenced to six months of home detention for stealing more than $28,000 from the Klamath Falls bank where she once worked. Annette Ayliffe Clayton appeared Thursday before U.S. District Judge Michael Hogan in federal court in Medford. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Thomson said Clayton was investigated by the FBI after an audit revealed she had stolen $28,138.34 over a six-week period in 1999 while working as a teller at a Bank of America branch in Klamath Falls. Thomson said Clayton had a methamphetamine problem and that much of the purloined proceeds apparently were spent in Las Vegas during a gambling spree with her boyfriend. As part of her sentence, Clayton was put on five years of probation and ordered to pay restitution of $18,000 the most she could work off while on probation. Also in federal court Thursday: Sentencing for former Ashland travel agent Katherine D. Driskell was postponed again. Driskell, 39, was supposed to be sentenced Oct. 5 on a fraud charge. The date was postponed until Thursday, and then pushed back to Jan. 11 because her attorney had a scheduling conflict. Authorities say Driskell ripped off up to 100 clients of her now-defunct travel agency, which specialized in booking alternative lodgings in Europe and the Caribbean.   Mail Tribune Home | Ottaway Newspapers, Inc. | Dow Jones & Co., Inc. | Privacy | Contact Us Copyright 2000 Mail Tribune, Inc.
