Is it gone? — Brent S., Gold Hill After almost three months, the Josephine County Parks Department has lifted the restrictions on water contact and use at Lake Selmac off Highway 199 near Selma. The toxic, algae-like bacteria finally succumbed to cold, dark weather and test results Thursday confirmed that it was gone, county parks ranger Steve Schalk says. People now can wade, swim and fish the lake as well as keep and eat legal limits of the fish they catch. But the lake’s clean bill of health comes in the fall, when lake use is minimal.
