Sealant crews may slow freeway traffic this week Aug 23, 2010 12:00 AM A A Evening drivers on Interstate 5 this week could face short delays as workers apply sealant to the road surface in the Central Point, Medford and Ashland areas. The work will take place from 6 to 4:30 a.m. tonight through Thursday and will affect only one lane at a time, said Gary Leaming, a spokesman for the Oregon Department of Transportation. Crews will be working in the "fast" lanes of the freeway between Central Point and Medford tonight. On Tuesday, they'll be near Exit 27, Medford's south interchange, and will travel south to the north Ashland interchange at Exit 19, Leaming said. The sealant is an oil-based product designed to hold rock in the asphalt in place, he said. — Staff reports
