Where is it being brewed? How many batches and types have been made under the label? — Marci L., Medford Common Block Brewing has just released its first collaboration batch with Swing Tree Brewing in Ashland. It's an American Wheat Ale known as Tri-Ath-Wheat that was debuted during the Siskiyou Challenge Relay in Ashland on April 30. Common Block brewer John Donehower and Brandon Overstreet of Swing Tree combined their talent to produce an ale with orange zest for added citrus aroma and flavor. Common Block spokeswoman Rachel Koning said the Tri-Ath-Wheat is the first professional batch using a two-barrel brewing system. Konig said Donehower has been a home brewer since 1995, using a single-keg brewing system to test recipes. Common Block will have a 15-barrel brewing system. "So far, John has brewed two test batches we're calling Rough Draft Pale Ale, and Blueprint IPA," she said. You can read more about the two beers here: http://www.commonblockbrewing.com/common-blocks-first-brew-rough-draft-ale/ http://www.commonblockbrewing.com/common-blocks-second-beer-blueprint-ipa-homebrew-recipe/ The brewer is working on a weisenbock, as well. Although the opening date is still undecided, Koning reported the concrete for the pub's upper level and several lower walls has been poured. Within the concrete walls and flooring are 3,300 feet of radiant tubing to heat and cool the building. — Send questions to “Since You Asked,” Mail Tribune Newsroom, P.O.
