Nathan Eric Joyce, 29, was sentenced to 18 months of supervised probation, 30 days in jail and a one-year driver's license suspension after he pleaded no contest Wednesday after he was found driving a red 1999 Land Rover reported stolen from Ashland Jan. 21. According to court documents, Ashland police Sgt. Jim Alderman saw Joyce driving the vehicle and followed him to an address in the 5400 block of South Pacific Highway. Joyce told police he was "test driving" the vehicle, then said he bought it from a woman named "Tiffany" but couldn't provide her last name or phone number. He later said he took the vehicle because he thought it was abandoned. Joyce pleaded no contest Wednesday to the felony charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest and three misdemeanor charges of violating a no-contact order against his mother. Jeffrey Gordon Cole, 23, of Medford admitted to burglarizing a Gold Hill home last May with another suspect and using during the burglary a black Jeep stolen May 27 in Josephine County. According to court documents, on May 30, 2015, a resident living in the 10990 block of Old Stage Road saw a black Jeep parked in his driveway and found Cole and co-defendant Gregory Ryan Taylor in his house emptying drawers. The suspects fled, but Medford police recovered the Jeep June 4 and found fingerprints and paperwork inside that tied it to Cole. The burglary victim allegedly identified Cole in a June 12 photo lineup. Cole was sentenced to 18 months of supervised probation and a one-year driver's license suspension after he pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and methamphetamine possession. He must pay $1,919 in restitution. Taylor, 25, of Grants Pass, was sentenced Dec. 16 to 3 years of supervised probation after he admitted to stealing the Jeep and burglarizing the home.
