District 51 r ace is too close to call Neither Larry Frank nor Cherryl Walker were popping champagne corks Tuesday night. Walker had a slight edge in the race for Oregon House District 51, but the contest was too close to call. Both said they figured they'd learn the results when they woke up in the morning. "I knew it would be close in Jackson County," said Walker, who lives in Murphy and had 637 votes to Frank's 343 in Josephine County. "But I think it's looking real good." Her advantage in the district, which includes Jackson and Josephine counties boosted Walker to a 3,363 to 3,076 lead. They were only seven votes apart in Jackson County. Frank was philosophical. "Whatever it is, it is," he said. "There's nothing I can do at this point but be patient." Frank, 48, is a Realtor who lives in the Applegate Valley and served on the Applegate School Board. Walker, 52, is retired and has served on the Josephine County Rural Planning Commission and Budget Committee.
