Wanted man back in jail By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Aug 26, 2021 12:41 PM A A Aaron David Whitley, released Monday from Jackson County Jail on his own recognizance, was back in the jail Wednesday evening after the order that allowed him to leave jail was rescinded earlier in the day. The District Attorney’s Office said Thursday that Whitley was located by Ashland Police and brought to the county jail without incident. Whitley was found guilty except insane Jan. 15 on charges of robbery in the first degree and coercion. The conviction stems from a carjacking in Ashland in February of 2020. The revocation of the release came after the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office asked for a hearing for that purpose. Court documents state that Whitley, now 39, had been waiting for transfer to the Oregon State Hospital for eight months, which is why the defense attorney asked that Whitley to be either released on his own recognizance or transported to the state hospital.
