Pete Nelson, host of "Treehouse Masters" and owner of Washington-based Nelson's Treehouse and Supply, was fined $5,000 for building a single-family treehouse in Neskowin, about 14 miles north of Lincoln City, the Oregon Construction Contractors Board reported Monday in a news release. Nelson's Treehouse was fined $1,000 in 2014 for building a treehouse in Central Point. As a repeat offender, his company faced a steeper fine for the second violation, the news release said. The second fine was issued Nov. 19, according to the CCB website. Elaborate treehouses — those with electricity and plumbing — are considered homes and require a contractor's license, state officials explained in the release. The Neskowin treehouse, built 46 feet off the ground in a Sitka spruce, was featured on a recent episode of the TV show, which caught the attention of a CCB investigator, the release said. The company built the treehouse this past summer. The board said Nelson's Treehouse and Supply had yet to obtain a license as of Monday. Nelson's Treehouse and Supply could not be reached for comment Monday. The "Treehouse Masters" show is in its fourth season, according to its website . It features the company traveling the country to build elaborate treehouses. "Pete goes out on a limb to create breathtaking realities for a host of clientele including designing multi-bedroom dream tree houses complete with functional plumbing and electricity to simple one-room lofts," the site reads.
