Leslie (Les) Alan Hopkins Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Mar. 13, 2016 at 2:00 AM Posted Mar. 13, 2016 at 2:00 AM » Social News Leslie (Les) Alan Hopkins went home to be with the Heavenly Father February 29, 2016 at the age of 79. He was born in Ashland, Ore. October 30, 1936 to parents Elmer and Orpha Hopkins. Leslie was raised on the family cattle ranch east of Ashland, and loved farming especially working with the horses and driving tractors. Leslie graduated from Ashland High School in 1955. In 1964 he married Wanda Arbogast and later divorced. He has three children, a daughter, Lisa Hopkins Powell, Eagle Point, Ore; and two sons, Dale, Washington and Don, South Dakota. He also has two grandsons. He was retired from Boise Cascade after many years in which he worked with the resaw machine. After retirement he worked seasonally for Harry & David. Les was a hard worker who enjoyed stock car races. He also liked going to lunch at Dairy Queen with his dear friend Bob Kee, especially for their ice cream. He looked forward to the annual Old Timers Picnic on the Greensprings where he enjoyed visiting with his many friends. He is survived by a brother, John Hopkins (Edna) Applegate, Ore.; a sister, June Stewart, Auburn, Calif.; his three children, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016, at the Medford Neighborhood Church, 1819 Stewart Avenue, Medford, Ore. 97501.
