Southern Oregon Humane Society pauses pet adoptions By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Jan 19, 2022 11:34 AM A A Citing staffing challenges, a nonprofit animal shelter is temporarily closing its doors and halting pet adoptions. The Southern Oregon Humane Society closed the public facing doors of its shelter Wednesday, according to a post on its Facebook page. During the closure, staff will still be available by phone at what would normally be the shelter’s regular hours of noon to 5 p.m., but adoptions "will be paused until we reopen,” the post states. Phone and email messages to the shelter were not immediately returned Wednesday, but the shelter’s website shows 21 dogs and five cats awaiting adoption. The nonprofit states that staff will care for the animals during the closure. “Please be assured they are being given all of the love and attention they deserve including our high standard of veterinary care,” the post states.
