William "Bill" Batzer of Medford won Oregon's Game Megabucks after purchasing a $2 ticket at the Biddle Road Purple Parrot last week before the April 6 drawing. According to a release from the Oregon Lottery, Batzer picked winning numbers of 8-18-27-35-39-42 using birthdays and what the release called the "Swami method," meaning the numbers chosen "came" to him. Batzer told lottery officials that he bought his winning ticket on his way to go fishing and forgot about it, leaving it in his truck until the day after the drawing. He opted to receive his winnings in a lump sum, and, according to the release, will receive $1.273 million after taxes. Batzer is a vice president at Batzer Constuction Inc. Calls to Batzer's cell phone were not immediately returned. Stores that sell lottery tickets get a 1 percent commission on winnings, netting Purple Parrot $38,000 from Batzer's win.
