LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Letters to the Editor, April 20 Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Apr. 20, 2015 at 12:01 AM Posted Apr. 20, 2015 at 12:01 AM » Social News God means it In response to Preston Moser's letter April 14, in which he refers to "Jesus' unconditional love": Let’s get something straight: Nowhere in the Bible does the phrase, “unconditional love” exist, because there is no such thing. God’s love is in fact conditional, and both the Old and New Testaments are very clear on that point. But many “Christian” churches today don’t want to alienate their congregations with the truth, so they use the “Cafeteria Scripture” approach, where you teach what the congregation wants to hear and leave out the rest. For example, 1st Corinthians 6:9-11, titled, “The Unrighteous Shall Not Inherit The Kingdom of God,” is rather specific about certain God-prohibited behaviors, including homosexuality and drunkenness. But it ends with, “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God“. Notice it reads, “And such were some of you …”, as in, they repented and don’t do it anymore! Carl Worden Eagle Point Thanks for support My husband and I wanted to thank all those who helped us through the loss of our son Nicholas, the 21-year-old Marine who was killed in a motorcycle accident in California, shown in the paper last week. We had an outpouring of support from the U.S. Marine Corps; our church family at Applegate Christian Fellowship and Calvary Chapel; OPUS Broadcasting, which paid for the Marines' hotel rooms; friends; family; strangers; Oak Grove teachers; and many others. We live in an awesome community. We can't thank you all enough. We didn't cook for two weeks. We had an enormous amount of cards and flowers delivered. A big thank you. We feel loved! And since Obama can't get closing Gitmo by Congress, he is going to give it to Castro/Cuba! Watch. Rosemary Newell Medford Respect service dogs If you see a service dog in Lithia Park — as service animals they are allowed — this is what you should not do: yell at the owner and call him/her a cheater. If you think the dog isn't a service dog and is in the park illegally, this is what you should do: contact a ranger at the nearby ranger station for further investigation by a park official. On Thursday, April 2, a woman verbally attacked me regarding my service dog, who was wearing a vest with insignia and had a photo I.D. card attached. My dog is registered with USAR (United States Animal Registry) and I have a doctor's prescription for a medical alert service animal. My condition is not readily visible, so sometimes people assume I have no need for a service dog. The encounter with this volatile woman was very upsetting. Please folks, be respectful. Put snap judgments and negative suspicions aside until you know for sure. I know some people cheat by putting bogus vests on their animal but you can't always tell who's legitimate and who's not just by looking at them. So, leave it up to park rangers and/or police to monitor violations. Thanks! C.J.
