He was lodged in the jail on $5,000 bail, but was released on his own recognizance Monday morning, jail records show. “We did receive quite a bit of tips, but most of the tips were information we already knew,” Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau said.  Police arrested the first suspect, 23-year-old Eric Ivan Ramirez, at the Jackson County Fair this past weekend. Ramirez — no relation to Eddie — remains in the jail on a third-degree assault charge after a Monday arraignment, according to court records. His bail is set at $20,000. Records show a preliminary hearing on his case has been set for Monday, Aug. 3.  Police suspect the two men of assaulting a man at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, June 27, while he tended to some tomatoes at the Union Park community garden. Investigators say the two men approached the man, engaged in a brief conversation, then attacked him. He was knocked to the ground and curled up in the fetal position while the men allegedly kicked him multiple times. The attackers fled when the man started calling for help. A surveillance camera captured them running east from the scene in the 500 block of Union Street.   The man has since recovered from his injuries, though police say he is still shaken up by the attack, which they add was unprovoked.
