Patterson had TD runs of 2 and 1 yards and found Kaleb Franklin for a 64-yard scoring strike in the second quarter. He later connected with Christian Mahoney on another long TD. Franklin had the touchdown grab and rushing scores of 2 and 3 yards for the Panthers (4-3, 3-2 SWC), who led 6-0 after the first quarter before turning it up in the second to enter intermission ahead, 25-7. Trent Snyder returned an interception to the South Eugene 1-yard line, setting up South’s final score of the first half. “It was nice to win on the road,” South Medford head coach Bill Singler said. “We’ve always had some tough games up here. They are tough to play at home. But we got off to a halfway decent start and went ahead 12-0. So it’s nice to jump ahead.” Patterson hit Mahoney for a 32-yard touchdown in the third quarter and Patterson completed the scoring with a 1-yard keeper with 9:04 to go in the fourth. “That was a nice read by Robbie and a great catch by Mahoney,” Singler said. Mahoney and Dillon DeVries also had interceptions against South Eugene (2-5, 1-4). South Medford;6;19;6;7; —;38 South Eugene;0;7;7;0;—;14 GRANTS PASS 44, ROSEBURG 43: At Grants Pass, Dylan Hanley scored on a 37-yard run with 1:36 left in the game and ran in the two-point conversion to give Grants Pass its first lead of the game in the SWC contest at Mel Ingram Field. Kyle Thomas blocked a 44-yard field goal attempt by Roseburg's Shane Sabins with 59 seconds remaining to clinch the victory. Hanley passed for three touchdowns and ran for two more. The senior quarterback was 11-of-17 passing for 210 yards and was the Cavemen's leading rusher with 100 yards on 16 carries. Grants Pass (5-2, 4-1 SWC) trailed 29-7 with 5:07 left before halftime after a strong start by Roseburg (1-5, 1-3). CRATER 31, EAGLE POINT 14: At Eagle Point, undefeated Crater pulled away in the second half during Midwestern League action. A touchdown run by Cavin Gillispie put the fourth-ranked Comets (7-0, 3-0 MWL) on the scoreboard first before Eagle Point quarterback Casey Zakowski hit Tanner Lonning for a 9-yard TD pass. Mario Quintero’s 36-yard fumble return to pay dirt gave the Eagles (2-5, 0-3) a 14-6 lead before Crater scored 25 unanswered. Top-ranked Springfield (7-0, 3-0) hosts Crater next Friday. SPRINGFIELD 44, ASHLAND 21: At Springfield, top-ranked Springfield racked up 451 yards rushing against No. 7 Ashland during Midwestern League action. Quarterback Trever Watson rushed for 249 yards and two scores for the Millers (7-0, 3-0 MWL), who held Ashland (5-2, 1-2) to 87 yards rushing and ripped off 20 unanswered points to pull away. Ashland pulled within 24-21 with 6:38 remaining in the third quarter on a 36-yard pass from quarterback Tucker Atteberry to Walker Shibley. Atteberry connected with Michael Pruitt to get the two-point conversion, but from there it was all Springfield. Atteberry, starting at quarterback for Kyle Weinberg — who threw five interceptions last week in a loss to Crater — also threw five picks. He did complete 19 of 39 passes for 204 yards and three touchdowns.
