Six Raiders honored by conferences Tuesday Oct 4, 2016 at 2:00 AM ASHLAND — Three Southern Oregon University soccer players and three football players earned weekly conference honors Monday, the Cascade Collegiate and Frontier offices announced. On the soccer side, Facienne Graham was voted the CCC women's soccer offensive player of the week, Megan Smith took the defensive award and Jonathan Morales was voted the men's soccer defensive player of the week after both Raider squads went 2-0 on the road. In the Frontier, SOU's 31-27 defeat of College of Idaho and byes for the rest of the conference paved the way for Louis DesPrez to garner the special teams honor, Keegan Lawrence to get the defensive award and Jason Shelley to get the offensive award. In Friday's 2-0 win at Warner Pacific, Graham, a redshirt-freshman from Ashland, came off the bench to score the first goal and assist the second for the first multi-point game of her career. And in Saturday's 1-0 win at Eastern Oregon, she came off the bench again to score the lone goal in the 43rd minute for her third goal of the season. Smith, a senior centerback from Elk Grove, California, anchored a Raider defense that secured its third and fourth straight shutouts in conference play and sixth and seventh of the season. Morales, a senior from Creswell, played all 180 minutes at goalkeeper over the weekend during SOU's fifth and sixth shutouts of the season. Saturday at Eastern Oregon, he collected seven saves. DesPrez, a junior from Pleasanton, California, averaged just over 40 yards per punt on seven attempts, including a long of 56 yards. Making his second start at safety, Lawrence, a junior from Sherwood, led the Raiders in tackles (10 solo, one assisted) for the second week in a row. Shelley, a true freshman receiver from Fairfield, California, scored his first career touchdown Saturday on an 81-yard bomb from Jack Singler in the second quarter. He totaled five catches for a season-high 113 yards.
