Molester sentenced to 10 years A Medford man who sexually abused a young girl over an extended period of time will spend the next 10 years in prison. Richard Charles Lacy, 40, pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges of first-degree sodomy and first-degree sex abuse in a Jackson County court. Lacy, who declined to speak at his sentencing, formerly used the name Chuck Standiford. In addition to jail time, Jackson County Deputy District Attorney Terry Smith said Lacy also was sentenced to 20 years of post-prison supervision. Court records show that Lacy began abusing the victim - a 12-year-old child who was known to him - in January 1998. On Friday, a family member said Lacy continued to abuse the girl over the next two years. Smith said that last year the victim told family members about the ongoing sexual abuse. The victim's family contacted Medford police, who began investigating the allegations. Officers arrested Lacy in October 2000, and charged him with two counts of first-degree sex abuse, first-degree sodomy and sexual penetration with a foreign object. Smith said two of those charges were dropped in the plea agreement. In addition to jail time, Lacy must register as a sex offender, submit to DNA and HIV testing, take part in a treatment program and submit to polygraph testing. Lacy is not allowed contact with the victim, her family or minors. The victim, who is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, is participating in counseling and is slowly starting to recover, a family member said.
