There might be space for a grocery store at new Lone Pine Square Oct 11, 2011 12:00 AM A A Now that Lone Pine Square is moving along with its building plan, would you happen to recall if they are going to build a small grocery store in the square to replace the one that was torn down around five years ago? — Gary B., Medford You may be in luck, Gary, and with some deli space to boot. But it's not a done deal at this point. Lone Pine Square co-owner and managing partner Bob Reed said a 4,000-square-foot building pad has been set aside for a deli market, though they don't know exactly who will occupy it just yet. "We are negotiating with, and we have been for quite some time, with a deli market (company) that would have a meat counter and organic vegetables and foods, etc," Reed said. "We are hoping very soon to be able to secure that spot and get a building going." The decision to put in the deli space resulted after the property owners put out a survey about what types of businesses residents living nearby would like to see in the now-vacant space. Eighty-two percent of the 1,300 returned responses said they wanted a deli market in the square. The current businesses open on the 6-acre property include a dental building and Lone Pine Square Drug. Anytime Fitness has a tentative Nov. 15 opening.
