His two passengers were injured. Levi C. Walters, 19, of Gazelle, died in a Redding, Calif., hospital from injuries suffered in the crash near Yreka, according to the California Highway Patrol. Walters was driving his 1994 Nissan pickup about 75 mph north on Old Westside Road north of Timmons Road about 8:45 p.m., the CHP said. As the truck rounded a curve, it left the roadway, police said. Walters lost control of the truck as he attempted to steer back onto the road, police said. The truck left the right side of the road, struck a barbed wire fence and overturned, the CHP said. Walters and his passengers were ejected from the truck during the crash, police said. Advertisement Passengers Jacob O. Tannaci, 19, and Woodrow Tannaci, 22, both of Gazelle, were taken to Fairchild Medical Center in Yreka. The elder Tannaci was later released, while the younger Tannaci was listed Monday in good condition, a hospital spokeswoman said. Walters was first taken to Fairchild, then airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Redding, where he died Sunday, the CHP said.
