Crash victim was from Eagle Point A 25-year-old man who died in a wreck on Highway 42 Sunday was from Eagle Point, police reported early Tuesday. Austin Sheldon Cleary was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. He was riding in the passenger seat of a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck traveling west on Highway 42 near Myrtle Point. Two others injured in the crash, including an 11-year-old girl, remain in serious condition. Witnesses reported that the truck's driver, 24-year-old Lymon Cecil Young of Grants Pass, was driving recklessly when he apparently lost control of his vehicle on an S-curve and rolled the truck several times into oncoming traffic. The truck struck the passenger side of an eastbound van driven by Helen France Hisel, 52, of Coos Bay, and rolled over the van's top. The van's front-seat passenger, 11-year-old Sarah Hooage suffered several facial fractures and abrasions, said an Oregon Health Sciences University spokesman. Sarah was airlifted to Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, where she remained in serious condition in the hospital's pediatric intensive care unit Tuesday. Young was taken to Coquille Valley Hospital where he received surgery for a severely damaged right leg. He was airlifted Monday to OHSU and placed in the intensive care unit. He was listed in serious condition Tuesday and was undergoing treatment for several leg fractures and a dislocated knee, said an OHSU spokesman. Hisel was taken to Coquille Valley Hospital where she was held overnight for observation and released early Monday, said a hospital spokeswoman. Troopers did not comment Monday on whether they would arrest Young but were told by OHSU staff that they would not be able to question him about the accident until today.
