Rosebud Commentary: Keep Humor Alive By Teresa Standstipher Updated: May 04, 2022 02:54 PM A A In this Commentary, we look at why people can't seem to take a joke anymore, and how crazed audiences at a comedy show can get. Some combination of censure and cancel police, they ironically impinge on comedians at work thinking that their ignorance and arrogance are somehow justified and certainly superior to the person they came to see perform. Take the latest case of Dave Chapelle, America's comedian laureate if only we had such a titleholder. He was rushed by a loon with a weapon, thankfully not injured, but still a scary moment for anyone performing in front of a live audience. That attacker is in jail, charged with a felony, dispelling any notion that it was part of an act. Larry Mendte walks us through the incident and has some things to say if you are college-age or the parent of college-age students. See if you agree, then write Larry, but please, do it with civility. [email protected].
