Early effects of minimum wage hikes seen in higher restaurant prices ... Police confirm identities of suspect and victim in Highway 99 fatal shooting ... Police apprehend fugitive in 2015 Southern Oregon murder case ... Viral sucker-punch video yields possible suspects Comment By Mark Freeman, Mail Tribune Posted Mar. 29, 2016 at 3:29 pm Updated Mar 29, 2016 at 4:45 PM Police are closing in on identifying the man who surveillance cameras caught sucker punching a homeless man at a downtown Medford bus station, but they have yet to find the victim. A posting on the Medford Police Department's Facebook page that netted more than 71,000 views also generated five potential names of the suspect whose haymaker broke the 54-year-old victim's facial bones, police said. "We can't say for certain that we've identified him yet," Lt. Mike Budreau said. Investigators continue to work on the theory that the March 9 attack captured by a Rogue Valley Transportation District camera at the Front Street station was a targeted assault and not a random "fight club" attack, Budreau said. In these so-called "knockout game" videos that pop up online, the assailant picks out usually a homeless man alone and attempts to knock him unconscious with a single punch. In this case, however, the attacker picked his victim out of a line of people about to board a bus and the man and woman seen with him immediately before the attack were not videotaping the crime, Budreau said. We don't mean to get your blood boiling early on a Monday, but this video may anger you a bit. We are trying to identify the suspect who assaulted the 54 year old victim, who was waiting to get on to the bus. The suspect and two others are seen getting out of a beige SUV across the street. We'd like to identify all three of them. The homeless victim was transported to the hospital with broken bones in his face, but is now recovering. This incident occurred on March 9th. Any help would be appreciated.
