Cory Krauss, Josephine County Search and Rescue coordinator, said the owner of nearby Wild River Lodge found the body along the bank near Burnt Rapids, just over 65 river miles downstream from Grants Pass. "It brings closure to the family, and that's an important thing," Krauss said. Curry County deputies removed the body by boat and transported it to Redwood Memorial Chapel in Brookings. Hull and Hull Funeral Directors in Grants Pass is handling additional arrangements. DuBose was 83, his widow told the Daily Courier. The recovery operation was the second on the Rogue River in recent weeks. The body of Cory Maleski, 26, was found on Feb. 26 about 12 miles downstream of Grants Pass. He apparently capsized in his kayak above Baker Park in January. Recent high water — near flood stage on the lower Rogue — contributed to DuBose being carried so far. DuBose had lived at Heart of a Man care home on Avenue de Teresa east of Grants Pass for only a few weeks when he walked out the back door facing the river last month. His escape prompted a three-day search with more than 50 volunteers, tracking dogs and a helicopter. On March 1 the state Department of Human Services shut down the home, located at 311 Avenue de Teresa, and its sister facility, Home on the Rogue, 2868 Rogue River Highway, citing concern for safety of the residents. Another man walked out of Heart of a Man in November 2014 but was found 30 hours later.
