OSF commissioned plays tour throughout country Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted May. 18, 2015 at 4:57 PM Posted May. 18, 2015 at 4:57 PM » Social News If you miss an Oregon Shakespeare Festival play, you may be able to catch it on another stage — if you don't mind traveling to San Francisco, Beverly Hills, Washington, D.C., Minneapolis or Dallas. A half-dozen OSF shows will be on the road in the coming year, performing for audiences across the country. The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, Calif., has announced that OSF’s 2015 production of "Guys and Dolls" will run Dec. 1-20. The show, directed by Mary Zimmerman, has been playing to sold-out houses in Ashland since its opening on Feb. 28. It closes in Ashland on Nov. 1. Director Joseph Haj’s production of Shakespeare's "Pericles," playing all season in OSF’s Thomas Theatre, will head to Folger Theatre in Washington, D.C., and run Nov. 13 through Dec. 20. Haj will make his Guthrie Theatre debut in Minneapolis as incoming artistic director with the same production Jan. 16 through Feb. 21. The Guthrie also will stage the OSF-commissioned version of "The Cocoanuts" from Nov. 14 to Jan. 3. Adapted by Mark Bedard and directed by David Ivers, the show ran for the 2014 season in Ashland with 119 performances and closed at 95 percent of capacity. Lynn Nottage's "Sweat," an OSF American Revolutions project co-commissioned by Arena Stage and directed by Kate Whoriskey, will play in OSF's Angue Bowmer Theatre July 19 through Oct. 31, then tour to the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., Jan. 15 through Feb. 21. Also running at Arena Stage April 1 through May 8, 2016, is the Tony Award-winning and OSF-commissioned "All the Way," by Robert Schenkkan, which played in Ashland in 2012. The play is being performed in a number of productions throughout the country, including a just-completed run at Zach Theatre in Austin, Texas, and will be produced at Dallas Theatre Center March 3-27. OSF’s world-premiere production of "The Unfortunates" will be staged at the American Conservatory Theatre’s Strand Theater in San Francisco in the 2016 season.
