Authorities investigate Wimer shooting death Sunday Apr 23, 2017 at 4:46 PM Apr 24, 2017 at 10:55 AM Jackson County sheriff's deputies discovered a man dead of a gunshot wound early Sunday morning in a residence in Wimer. Deputies received a 911 call at 1:17 a.m. Sunday from a residence in the 9800 block of West Evans Creek Road and arrived to find a man deceased. Investigators with the Major Assault and Death Investigation Unit (MADIU) were on the scene all day, collecting evidence and speaking with the involved parties, said Jackson County sheriff's Sgt. Julie Denney. The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office also responded and will conduct an autopsy later this week. The sheriff’s department will release more details on the investigation, as well as the identity of the victim, on Monday, Denney said.
