Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend October 17, 2005 Restaurant inspections Jackson County health inspectors evaluated 98 restaurants in September. A portion of scores appear weekly in the Mail Tribune. Establishments must score 70 or higher to pass. Inspectors subtract points from a perfect score of 100 for critical violations. McDonald’s East Barnett Road, Medford — 76. McKee Bridge Restaurant and Store, Jacksonville — 85. Mellelo Coffee Roasters, South Central Avenue, Medford — 90. Miguel’s Guadalajara Inc., Shady Cove — 90. Mihama Teriyaki Grill, Ashland — 91. Mountain Mike’s Pizza, Medford — 86. Mr. Smith’s, Medford —83. Northwest Pizza and Pasta Co., Ashland — 83. Puck’s Donuts, Phoenix — 98. Critical violations that affect scores include: foods held at improper temperatures, improperly cooled or reheated, not properly protected from contamination, from unapproved origins, unsafe, adulterated, or not honestly presented, not date-marked or discarded upon expiration; raw animal foods improperly cooked; presence of rodents or insects; inadequate personal hygiene; failure to clean and sanitize food equipment; lack of an approved water system; toxic chemicals or cleansers not properly stored, used, or labeled. Restaurant scores are posted online at www.jackson county.org. Inspection files are open to the public at the division of environmental health, Jackson County Health and Human Services, 1005 E.
