When a man gave a ride to Samantha Bobbie Rae Harmon, 25, at noon Thursday, June 9, she allegedly used a knife to take his car, according to an affidavit filed in Jackson County Circuit Court. Arcenio Sainz gave Harmon a ride from the Woodland Heights Market on Prune Street, the document says, and during the ride Harmon found a knife in the car's glove compartment. Harmon allegedly asked Sainz to pull into the parking lot at Union Park, then started using the knife to stab the dashboard and interior door panels before putting the weapon within inches of him. She then ordered him to "get the f--- out of the car." Fearful Harmon would attack him, Sainz told police, he grabbed his phone, fled the vehicle and Harmon drove away. In addition to the interior damage, Harmon damaged the front passenger side of the vehicle exterior during the car theft, Sainz reported. Police later found the car in the area of Hamilton and Stewart. A woman who lives nearby in the 1000 block of Stewart Avenue told police that Harmon, who was a stranger to the resident, ran into her home. The woman allegedly asked Harmon to leave several times before Harmon left. Harmon is charged with first- and second-degree robbery, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful use of a vehicle, menacing, hit-and-run and first-degree trespassing. Her next court date is set for July 5. Harmon remains lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $100,000 bail. Reach reporter Nick Morgan at 541-776-4471 or [email protected].
